Outdoor Festival, Saturday May 25th (NEW DATE!)

Trailpalooza is a fun event and a key event for supporting your local trails. Santa Maria Valley Open Space is a volunteer run non-profit corporation. We raise funds to buy tools. equipment, and services to build and maintain trails for hiking, trail running, mountain biking and horseback riding. Trailpalooza is a fun way for the community to support the organization by enjoying food, listening to music, joining in the trail run (or hike...) or participating in short-track mountain bike racing!

 

Registration is open! Trail run starts at 9AM, music around noon, and we will wrap up at 5pm. Entrance is from the gate on Highway 101, about 1 mile south of Clark Avenue.

There will also be a raffle for a Giant Trance X 29 mountain bike thanks to Main Street Cycles - a $2800 value!

Festival Details:
The festival includes live music, food trucks, and hanging out with your trail people at the beautiful Newlove Picnic Grounds at Solomon Hills. Our use of this large, open-air facility is generously made possible by Pacific Coast Energy Company. Enjoy this unique experience hanging out under the oak trees and taking in spectacular views of the Santa Maria Valley and Solomon Hills. Entry is only $20 per carload, so bring your family & friends! All youth under the age of 18 get into the festival for free. We will be looking for volunteers to help with parking, registration, setup and cleanup.

 

Trail Run:
The trail run will be a 5-mile loop that includes topping out on Solomon Peak and running single track trails along ridges and valleys over the hill south of Orcutt. There are options to run 1, 2 or 3 laps for 5, 10 or 15 miles. Registration includes all-day entry to the event, a t-shirt, and an amazing trail experience! The race will start from the picnic grounds at 9AM and wrap up as Trailpalooza is kicking off! Admission to the festival is i
ncluded for each racer.

Trailpalooza Short Course MTB Race:
Construction has begun to provide you with an opportunity for racing on a new short course. Track will be a 1/2-mile tight loop filled with technical features including jumps, berms, rock gardens, skinnies, drops and wood-built features. All categories will race in a mass start format and complete a set number of laps. The course is mostly viewable from the picnic grounds so family and friends can see the action and cheer on their racers! Registration includes all-day entry to the festival. Admission to the festival is included for each racer.

WINTER EVENING RULES

Evening Access Rules and Restrictions Update


Hours are extended until 8:30pm for hiking and biking only (dogs must be on leash). No equestrian use at night please.
Nighttime usage is permitted only on the Orcutt Hills Open Space Community Trails (Valley View and Coyote Loop).

  • Orcutt Community Park closes prior to the cutoff and the gates lock at sunset.  Do not park in the Orcutt Community Park lot for evening usage.

  • Pass quietly and listen for nocturnal sounds not normally heard during daytime hours.  Be respectful of the nighttime wildlife and neighboring homes adjacent to the open space.

  • Be familiar with the trail and please stay on trail. Bring a copy of this map on paper or on your phone.

  • Visit the Open Space in pairs or groups.  Do not hike or bike alone.

  • Carry a flashlight with extra batteries and a cell phone for emergencies.

  • No smoking or alcohol allowed.

  • No camping or fires of any kind.
